Schroth International Course
Schroth-Method®
The Schroth-Method® is a physiotherapeutic method founded by Katharina Schroth in 1921 and further developed by her daughter, Christa Lehnert-Schroth (PT), along with a team of specialized therapists who have been working together and studying scoliosis for decades.

ISST Schroth Training Program
The full program consists of two parts, each lasting 5 days, with a total of 77 hours (CEU).
The ISST training program covers various theoretical aspects of scoliosis in combination with practical components of the therapeutic approach.
The training leads participants from a basic understanding of scoliosis to a more advanced and comprehensive clinical reasoning approach regarding the conservative management of scoliosis.
Key Highlights:
Presentation of the conservative treatment approach in the field of scoliosis
The Schroth Method and its historical progressive development
The original version of the Schroth Method and its subsequent evolution
Principles of active and passive correction of the spine and body posture
Educational aspects of the Schroth Method – information, motivation, and self-efficacy
Biomechanical background of rotational deformity in scoliosis
ADL (Activities of Daily Living) – postural modifications
Home exercise program
Bracing

Objectives and Overview of the Full Training System
Schroth training enables physiotherapists to provide effective conservative treatment for patients with spinal deformities, primarily those with idiopathic scoliosis and kyphosis.
The goal is to avoid surgery whenever possible, slow down or stop progression, and develop effective coping strategies for patients in order to improve their social participation and activities of daily living. This also has a positive impact on overall HRQoL (Health-Related Quality of Life) for children, adults, and elderly patients affected by scoliosis and kyphosis.
The training equips physiotherapists with the knowledge to understand the biomechanical conditions of asymmetric posture and asymmetric spinal loading, which can lead to functional and structural adaptations and increase the risk of further progression of the deformity.
This specialized physiotherapy approach is also indicated for patients wearing braces, patients with an indication for surgery, and those in the post-operative rehabilitation phase.
Therapists learn to define their role as members of an interdisciplinary network involving physicians, surgeons, orthotists, parents, patients, and psychologists.
Basic Information: Etiology, biomechanics, the concept of the scoliosis vicious cycle, progression, postural misalignment, function and structure, bracing, and surgery.
Medical Assessment: Visual and manual assessment, treatment protocol, X-ray evaluation, scoliometer use, and functional assessment.
Classification Systems: Schroth, King, Rigo, Lenke.
Specific Mobilization: Passive techniques, including specific Schroth manual therapy techniques.
Respiratory Therapy: Corrective breathing is used as an internal force aimed at counteracting the rotational deformity caused by scoliosis and mobilizing restrictive thoracic dysfunctions.
Three-Dimensional (3D) Stabilization: Exercises for the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis, progressing from specific positioning to active self-correction.
Activities of Daily Living (ADL): Training in various postural strategies and practical approaches for comfortable posture, contributing to the prevention of deformity progression and reduction of asymmetric loading.
Sagittal Correction: Correction in the sagittal plane, easy to apply and essential for spinal stability, especially in the lumbar region.
The Schroth Network: The concept of interdisciplinarity, including the role of bracing within the treatment approach.

Certification:
Certification is awarded upon completion of the second five-day module, during which practical examinations are conducted.
As a gift, each participant will receive a complete Schroth equipment set upon completion of the seminar.
*According to the policy of Schroth International (ISST Schroth), training in the Schroth Method must begin and be completed at the same location and with the same training provider.
Eligibility for Participation
Only qualified/licensed physiotherapists are eligible to participate in the full training program and receive certification.
Professionals from other disciplines (Physiotherapy Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Fitness Professionals, etc.) may attend only the first five-day module of the seminar.
